ABOUT
The Multilingual Musicienne
Music has always been a huge part of my life. When I was a little girl, I played piano, sang in the school choir and started writing lyrics and poems. In my early teens, I joined my father’s blues band as a backing vocalist, made my first steps on stage and taught myself guitar and bass. At 18, I received vocal training in Paris, became the lead singer of an 8-piece jazz band and participated in two masterclasses led by American musicians Martha High, Fred Wesley and Pee Wee Ellis – all former members of James Brown’s orchestra. Both courses ended with a powerful live performance, where I had the privilege to sing on stage with the JB’s and a big ensemble.
Emboldened by this experience, I decided to leave my French hometown and seek out more opportunities in the English-speaking world. I landed in a student city near Manchester, where I read Modern Languages, Communication & Cultural Events Management by day, and immersed myself in the vibrant local music scene by night. After graduating, I returned to France with full English proficiency and obtained a Master's Degree in Translation & Interpreting, which I successfully pursued as a career for several years. But deep down, my heart was still longing to sing...
Now based in Brighton, I spend my time between performing and recording with my band Greenness, managing independent label One Fern Records, session/function singing for various clients on both sides of the channel (Emeralds, The Homeward Recording Company...), playlisting and liaising with artists for sync placements via Muchas Music & Killer Sync, facilitating singing workshops to promote better mental health, wellbeing & environmental awareness (Soundcastle, XR Choir...), creating podcasts (CAMP Radio, 199radio, Slack City…) and organising live shows (FemFriday, Brighton Fringe, The Alternative Escape…) that champion women and minorities in music, as well as writing gig reviews for various blogs (Brighton Source, Musosoup…), drinking too much tea and swimming in the sea!
I feel immensely grateful to be involved in so many creative projects, and I’m always willing to learn, share, reflect, connect and grow. If you would like to know more about my services, explore my projects or simply say "hi", don't hesitate to contact me. I look forward to hearing from you!
